Robert hyman, DC REPUBLICAN PARTY WARD 3 CHAIR
Robert was elected in 2016 as Chairman of the Ward 3 D.C. Republican Party. He
continues to serve in this role. Robert previously was elected to serve 12 years
divided between the responsibilities of President and Vice President of the Glover
Park Citizens Association (GPCA) representing 10,000 residents in Ward 3.
Robert has served as the elected Chairman of the D.C. Soil & Water Conservation
District, CAC. His past efforts have included the following activities:
Recipient of the Chesapeake Bay Program, Outstanding Agricultural
Designed and created the award winning city-wide storm drain
awareness program that includes affixing markers to storm drains to
help educate residents about trash in storm water run off and illegal
dumping. To-date over 1,000 drain markers have been installed with
help of civic groups, elementary teachers and school children, as well
as other volunteers.
Organized volunteer effort with youth groups planting trees along the
Served as the official site leader for the annual Alice Ferguson
Foundation Potomac Watershed Clean-up day.
Volunteered with the D.C. Department of Public Works (DPW) Solid
Waste Education and Enforcement Program (SWEEP) for a “trash can
give away day” in Glover Park.
Coordinated the DPW operation “Clean Sweep” which was a
comprehensive Glover Park clean-up effort.
Successfully worked with DPW’s, Trees and Landscape Division to
plant approximately 100 trees, as well as, prune and maintain the
remaining mature trees in Glover Park.
Received a Community Service Award from the Metropolitan Police,
Worked with federal and district government officials to increase
environmental crime enforcement (U.S. National Park Police and the
D.C. Environmental Crimes Unit).
Volunteered with the DC Clean City Initiative canvassing
neighborhoods assessing and recording cleanliness.
In addition, Robert has served as a past steering committee member, for Cluster 14 --
Glover Park, Cathedral Heights, McLean Gardens, Massachusetts Avenue Heights – in
the citywide “Neighborhood Services and Planning Initiative for the District of
Columbia. Participated in the redistricting plan for DC Wards that is required every 10
years. Robert also has successfully completed the training seminar for the Metropolitan
Police Department, “Partnership for Problem Solving” program.
Robert’s other passions include mountaineering and scientific field research expeditions,
which have taken him around the world with scientists in the disciplines of archeology,
ornithology, biology and medical science.
