FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON - The DC Republican Party's Chairman José Cunningham called upon the DC Council to convene a special committee in order to investigate the alleged wrongdoings of Councilmember Jack Evans (D-Ward 2).
Cunningham noted, "News reports indicate that Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans inappropriately used his government position to conduct private business. DC Councilmembers should not be enriching themselves on the DC taxpayers dime." Cunningham continued, "As a Ward 2 resident and Chairman of the DC Republican Party, I call upon the DC Council to convene a special committee to investigate the wrongdoings of Mr. Evans. It is essential that a full review of these alleged misdeeds are given a full review for the sake of the integrity of the institution and to ensure Mr. Evans receives due process."
The DC Republican Committee is made up of registered Republicans living throughout the District of Columbia in all eight wards who are nominated and elected to serve as members.
