Candidate for DC Council, Ward 6

Candidate for DC Council, Ward 6

DC is where my wife Holly and I call home. We met here. We got married and adopted our rescue dog Sprocket here. We could have planned a wedding in one of our hometowns, but we decided to celebrate in the city we call home and where we plan to raise a family.

I volunteer in DC to help grow the community around me. I mentor local residents, helping them develop the skills necessary to gain and maintain full-time employment. I also work with a local animal rescue organization, helping dogs find their forever homes.

I have become who I am because of my family. They instilled the value of community in me from an early age. Mom was a public school teacher. Dad a small businessman. My younger brother pursued his passion and became a chef.

I studied political science at Northwestern University. After working in downtown Chicago for a couple of years, I spent three years in Columbia, Missouri pursuing a law degree at the University of Missouri. Upon graduation, I moved to DC, not knowing how long I would stay or how vibrant the local community is.

During the day, I work as an attorney for a not-for-profit government, watchdog group. We seek to promote transparency, accountability and integrity in government and politics and fidelity to the rule of the law. In this role, I have worked with private citizens, journalists, other not-for-profit organizations to seek the truth from their government.

Holly and I live in Navy Yard. Most nights, you can find us walking Sprocket along East Capitol, cheering on the Nationals, or enjoying the outdoor patios along Barracks Row or on the banks of the Anacostia. We love Ward 6 and intend to call it home for years to come.
