Washington, DC: The DC Republican Committee made the following statement today in regard to the Attorney General's settlement with Councilmember Harry Thomas (Ward 5- Democrat).
"The Attorney General should be commended for successfully recouping the $300,000 Councilmember Harry Thomas stole from the city. Mr. Thomas unequivocally admitted guilt by settling with the Attorney General, which was the original intent of the charges. The outrage we all share is the fact that Mr. Thomas will not publicly state his wrongdoing, his Council colleagues will not call for his public resignation and his settlement is an interest free loan," stated Bob Kabel, Chairman of the DC Republican Committee.
"We hope the US Attorney's Office, the FBI and the IRS will continue its ongoing investigation and act without hesitation," concluded Kabel.
